Aquarium decor

Simple aquarium décor may consist of nothing but a few pretty rocks on the bottom of the tank. On the other hand, there are many aquarists who spend more time, energy and money on decoration than the animals. From sunken treasure chests to “no fishing” signs, there are hundreds of ways to decorate an aquarium.

Some decorative items are actually good for an aquarium. Certain rocks and gravel are designed to help filter aquarium water. Live plants are another type of beneficial aquarium décor. Use caution when choosing live plants. Some may be harmful to fish or just muck up the water.

It’s not likely that fish get much enjoyment out of aquarium décor, but who knows. It is probably true that a castle or another dark hollow feature can be a fish favorite. Such a decoration can also provide respite from aquarium lighting or other fish.
